A devout member of the Bobo Ashanti sect, Sizzla has often been criticized for his lyrics, which, due to his religious beliefs, are critical of homosexuality and sometimes interpreted as inciting violence against the LGBTQ+ community. As a result, several of his performances were canceled following protests by LGBTQ+ organizations—his 2004 UK concert, 2007 Canada concert, 2008 Spain concert, and 2009 Germany concert were all called off.
Sizzla played a key role in the Rasta Renaissance within conscious reggae. He rose to prominence with his 1997 second album "Black Woman & Child", released under Digital B, and has since maintained his status as a dancehall icon, releasing over 70 albums and countless singles.
This is a 2008 7-inch release from Bombist, an official label of Bost & Bim, the dancehall reggae production duo consisting of Matthieu Bost and Jérémie "Bim" Dessus. Over the Soprano Riddim, named for its distinctive soprano sax melody, Sizzla flows effortlessly like a fish in water, making for an exquisite dancehall tune!
