George Nooks began his career in the mid-1970s as a deejay under the name Prince Mohammed, rising to prominence within Joe Gibbs’ powerhouse production camp.
He also established himself as a beloved singer through covers like Little Roy’s "Tribal War" and Errol Dunkley’s "Darling Ooh".
Later, under the production of Donovan Germain, Nooks achieved crossover success in the UK with "We’re In This Love". Continuing to thrive beyond the 1990s, he became renowned for his reggae interpretations of classic covers.
This 2001 7" release from Digital B showcases Nooks’ own songwriting over the timeless Watch This Sound riddim. His authoritative, soulful delivery evokes the golden era of reggae, making this track an absolute must-listen!

Orig:The Uniques"Watch This Sound" (1968 Tramp)
1968年にWinston Loweプロデュースで制作されたザ・ユニークス「Watch This Sound」が初出。73年にバニー・リーのプロデュースによるでU Brownが「Watch What Is Going On」でリディムを取り入れ、今日のリメイクはそのヴァージョンがベースとなっています。
幾度かのリメイクを経て、1996年には
フレディ・マクレガーがユニークスのヴァージョンをカヴァー。2001年にデジタルBやHugh Chrisによってリバイバル。
2006年にはCousinsのDonville Davisが取り上げています。
