Ghost Feat. General B / Vin Mark – Still The One / Watch Di Pums

A hidden gem from 1998 courtesy of Digital B, this 7" features two tracks on the rare Stick It riddim (possibly the only two tracks ever made on this riddim), making it an essential find for collectors!

The riddim itself is a standout, driven by a sharp programmed beat with subtle handclaps that give it a unique vibe.

Both featured female singers on this release deliver impressive performances, and interestingly, this 7" seems to be the only physical release for both artists. On the A-side, General B (aka Dave Parks) supports a female singer known as "Ghost" who performs a mellow and soulful cover of Shania Twain's "Still The One". Bobby Digital's genius arrangement turns it into a reggae ballad that rivals a Bob James-level transformation—keeping the essence of the original while making it something entirely new.

The B-side, "Watch Di Pums" is an original tune crafted by Bobby Digital and Vylmark Hamilton (aka Power Ranger). The credited artist, Vin Mark, might not actually be a female singer as it seems to be another alias for Vylmark. Regardless, the vocals are stunning, carrying a gravitas reminiscent of classic reggae singers with a soulful edge akin to someone like Karukayamakoto. This track captures both vintage and fresh vibes, making it highly recommended!

A must-have for reggae enthusiasts and collectors alike!

1998年デジタルB産隠れ名リディム、スティック・イットの2曲(このリディムはおそらくこれだけ)をカップリングしたナイス7"！

ハンドクラップを取り入れた渋い打ち込みのTRKがまずイケてますが、それらにフィーチャーされているフィメール・シンガーも実にGOOD。

おそらく2人ともフィジカルは本作のみで、A面にはゴーストなる女の子をジェネラルBことDave Parksがサポート("アー"って言ってるだけww)。しっとりとしたメロウ・バラードのShania Twain「Still The One」を、ボブ・ジェームスばりに原型を留めてないボビー・デジタルのアレンジも秀逸！

B面「Watch Di Pums」はボビーとヴィルマーク・ハミルトンaka Power Rangerによるオリジナル・チューンで、ヴィン・マークなるアーティストですが、それは女性シンガーの名前ではなくヴィルマークの変名ではないかと。

それはとも角、個人的には往年のシンガーの様な貫禄とカルカヤマコトのようなフィーリングを併せ持ったヴォーカルが素晴らしくオススメでス！
