竹内まりや – September / 涙のワンサイデッド・ラヴ

Mariya Takeuchi’s 3rd single, which sold a total of 103,000 copies on the Oricon charts and remained in the Top 100 for nearly half a year. Thanks to this success, she won the New Artist Award at the 21st Japan Record Awards in December 1979! The A-side, “September”, features lyrics by Takashi Matsumoto, music and arrangement by Tetsuji Hayashi, with EPO handling the chorus arrangement. EPO also participated in the chorus itself. A refreshing breakup song brought to life through the combination of Matsumoto and Hayashi’s songwriting, Takeuchi’s vocal performance, and expressive delivery. The flip side, “Namida no One-Sided Love” (“Tears of a One-Sided Love”), is a 45-only track not included on any album. Written by Takeuchi herself for her second album, this one features arrangement by Tatsuro Yamashita and chorus participation from Minako Yoshida.

オリコン累計10.3万枚のセールスで同チャートTOP100圏内に半年近くチャートインし続け、この結果を受け1979年12月末の第21回日本レコード大賞新人賞を獲得した竹内まりやの3rdシングル！

A面「セプテンバー」は松本隆作詞、林哲司 作曲/アレンジで、コーラス・アレンジをEPOが担当。実際コーラスにも参加していて、前述二人によるソングライティングと竹内まりやの歌唱および表現力だからこそ成し得る、爽やかな失恋ソング。

フリップ「涙のワンサイデッド・ラヴ」はアルバム未収の45オンリーで、竹内自身が2ndアルバム用に書いたオリジナル曲。こちらの楽曲アレンジは達郎さんが担当、コーラスで美奈子さんが参加していまス。
