Yosui Inoue’s 1984 album "9.5 Carats" is a collection of nine tracks, featuring eight self-covers of songs he wrote for other artists between 1982 and 1984.
These include "Wine Red no Kokoro" and "Koi no Yokan" (both composed by Koji Tamaki) for Anzen Chitai, and "Kazari Janai no yo Namida wa" for Akina Nakamori. It also includes earlier works like Yutaka Mizutani's "Harbor Light" and Seri Ishikawa's "Dance wa Umaku Odorenai" from 1977. The album is rounded out with his own recent hit at the time, "Isso Serenade"
"9.5 Carats" achieved great commercial success, selling over 1.55 million copies. It became Yosui Inoue's second million-seller album after "Ice World" This blog covers records from both domestic and international artists, and while Japan has its own Gold Disc Awards, for consistency with the American GOLD DISC standard, we classify any record with over 500,000 sales as a GOLD DISC. The album won the Album of the Year award at the 27th Japan Record Awards in 1985.

これまでに155万枚以上売り上げセールス的にも成功を収めた、
「氷の世界」に次いで自身2作目となるミリオンセラー・アルバム(当ブログはレコードの邦洋問わず紹介しており、わが国にはゴールド・ディスク大賞が存在するのでややこしいですが、アメリカのゴールド・ディスク規定に合わせ、50万枚以上セールスしたレコードを
GOLD DISCとしています)で、翌85年の第27回日本レコード大賞アルバム大賞を受賞しています。
