A member of the Spark San'nin Musume trio alongside Mie Nakao and Mari Sono—and often called “Yukari Ito of the Moon” (with Mieko Hirota being the “Sun”)—Yukari Ito released this album in 1978 as her first project after moving to Victor’s Invitation label.
The album features lyrics by Etsuko Kisugi, Toyohisa Araki, and Ami Ozaki (who also contributed compositions), with arrangements handled by Kentaro Haneda, Shigeru Suzuki, Akira Inoue, and others. It opens with “Yume, Karamawari,” a chanson-like kayōkyoku tune infused with hints of jazz. Other highlights include “Tender Rain” (A4) and “Ushirosugata” (B3), both written by Ami Ozaki and arranged by Shigeru Suzuki, as well as the groove-laden wa-mono kayō track “Climax” (B5) complete with breaks.
A fine collection of songs—and a never-reissued gem.
