On this day in 1976, Masayoshi Takanaka, the guitarist of Sadistic Mika Band, released his solo debut album "Seychelles"
Backed by Hiroshi Imai and Tsugutoshi Goto from the successor group Sadistics (Yukihiro Takahashi provided the lyrics for A1 "Oh! Tengo Suerte" A2 "Tokyo Reggy" and B2 "Sayonara...... Fuji-san"), the album features percussion by Shigeoya Hamaguchi and Nobu Saito, vocals by TAN TAN, and backing vocals by Yoosui Inoue.
Notable tracks include "Oh! Tengo Suerte" which was also covered by Jorge Santana, the instrumental tune A3 "To the Island of Mirages" which has a vibe somewhat reminiscent of Ry Cooder's world, and the superb mellow floater A4 "Seychelles Islands of Dreams" B1 "Funkee Mah-Chan" offers a funky groove that some may consider a highlight depending on their taste, while B3 "Bird Island Express" features a solid drum break. Despite being his debut work, the album is a must-listen that showcases Takanaka's already well-developed sound.

ライ・クーダーの世界観に通じなくもない?INSTチューンのA3「蜃気楼の島へ」、その延線上の極上メロウ・フローターのA4「憧れのセーシェル諸島」、趣味嗜好によっては白眉に挙げるむきもあるFUNKYグルーヴのB1「Funkee Mah-Chan」、硬質なドラムブレイクを搭載のB3「バードアイランド急行」等、デビュー作ながら既に完成された高中サウンドが堪能できる必聴盤でス！
