Mayo Shono (庄野真代) – るなぱあく

Singer-songwriter Mayo Shono, born in Osaka, released her second album, "Luna Park" in 1976, just before her breakout hit "Tonde Istanbul"

The album features an all-star lineup of Sadistics members, including Yukihiro Takahashi, Masayoshi Takanaka, Tsugutoshi Goto, and Hiroshi Imai, who played a significant role in the production and performances. Additionally, the album is supported by other top-tier musicians such as Nobu Saito, Larry Sunaga, Koji Hatori, Eiji Arai, Fujimaru Yoshino, and more. All tracks are written by Shono, with arrangements primarily handled by Masao Nakajima (keyboards) and Tsunehide Matsuki (guitar).

The sound incorporates swing-inspired tracks and whimsical, fairy tale-like vibes, which could be described as a "more kayōkyoku-leaning Satō Nanako" (they were both under Blow Up Records, after all). Inspired by the image of a nighttime amusement park, Shono crafted the album’s lyrics and compositions. The "Luna" in the title refers to the Spanish word for "moon" a recurring theme throughout the album, including "Moonlight City Woman" a standout Japanese bossa tune. Other highlights include "To Pipper" (A4), with its groovy bassline and Sadistics-esque style, B1, a mellow tune pairing soft electric piano with soothing guitar, and B3, a rock track that humorously begins with a jingle from a certain cooking show. With its refined charm and whimsical atmosphere, it’s no surprise this album earned its spot in the magazine "Wa-Mono A to Z" A stellar release!

大阪市出身のシンガーソングライター、庄野真代が「飛んでイスタンブール」前夜の76年にリリースした2ndアルバム「るなぱあく」

高橋幸宏に高中正義、後藤次利、今井裕等サディスティックスの面々が大々的に制作/演奏に関わっていて、その他にも斎藤ノブ、ラリー須永、羽鳥浩次、新井英治、芳野藤丸他、豪華一流ミュージシャンがバックアップしています。

収録曲は全て彼女によるライティングで、アレンジはほぼ中島政雄(key), 松木恒秀(g)の二人が手掛けています。そのサウンドは、スウィング・フィーリングの楽曲を取り入れたり、随所に漂うメルヘンちっくな雰囲気が"佐藤奈々子さんを歌謡曲寄りにした感じ"(同じブロウ・アップだし)と言えば伝わるでしょうかw

大人の夜の遊園地のイメージで彼女が作詞曲したらしい本作。タイトルにあるるなぱあくの「るな」(luna)はスペイン語で「月」を意味し、タイトルにも「ムーン」が入っていて、本命の呼び声高い和製ボッサ・チューンの「ムーンライト・シティ・ウーマン」やブンブンのベースラインもご機嫌で如何にもサディスティックスといった趣のA4「To Pipper」, フワッフワのエレピと耳馴染みの良いギターが前述のA2と双璧を成すメロウ・チューンのB1, 律儀にも某料理番組のジングルで幕を開けるROCKチューンのB3等、「和モノ A to Z」誌に掲載も納得の好盤でス！
