Tom Scott ‎– New York Connection

Tom Scott, also known for playing the alto sax on the theme of the 1976 movie "Taxi Driver" wasn't satisfied with his activities with L.A. Express and released a solo album in 1975 titled "New York Connection"

Why this true LA native went to NY is a mystery, but as the title suggests, he gathered familiar East Coast gold saints like Steve Gadd, Ralph MacDonald, and Richard Tee. Additionally, Bob James, an unavoidable figure in NY at the time, participated on electric piano. Moreover, George Harrison showcased his slide guitar skills on B3 "Appolonia" Personally, the mellow tracks, including B3 and the title track, are the highlights of this album. Incidentally, A2 "Uptown And Country" was sampled in The Third Man's "This Pill" ('04).

1976年の映画「タクシードライバー」のテーマでアルトを吹いていたことでも知られるトム・スコットが、L.A.エクスプレスでの活動では飽き足らず、単独名義でリリースした75年作「ニューヨーク・コネクション」
生粋のLAっ子の彼がなぜNYへ赴いたのか、今となっては知る由もありませんが、そのタイトル通りスティーブ・ガッドやラルフ・マクドナルド、リチャード・ティーといったお馴染みの東海岸のゴールド・セイントが集結。さらに当時のNYで避けては通れない、ボブ・ジェームスもしっかりエレピで参加。さらにB3「Appolonia」のみでですが、あのジョージ・ハリソンがスライド・ギターを披露しています。個人的に本作はそのB3やタイトル曲をはじめとする、メロウな曲が肝かと。

ちなみにA2「Uptown And Country」はThe Third Man「This Pill」('04)でサンプリングされています。
