Hailed as Japan's José Feliciano, Kiyoshi Hasegawa's "Sunday Samba Session Live At Loft" recorded at the now-closed live house Shimokitazawa Loft in December 1976 during the seventh monthly samba live session centered around him since April of the same year, is a live album released in 1977, with this being the 1979 second pressing.
His efforts to popularize samba and Brazilian music in Japan are evident not only in the diverse range of Brazilian music he performs—such as Marcha (Chico Buarque's "A Banda"), Choro (Pixinguinha's "Carinhoso"), Bossa Nova (Roberto Menescal's "O Barquinho"), and Samba Canção (Dolores Duran's "A noite do meu bem")—but also in the included translations of all the songs (except for B1, which is an original by Toru Hirano).
The liner notes reflect his dedication and passion for samba, beginning with, "It has been a long-time dream. Finally, a samba record is completed," and featuring his own writings about samba. This album captures the atmosphere and excitement of the time, with the audience singing along and his MCs, packaging it all without leaving anything out. World-class covers like Jorge Ben's "Mas Que Nada" and the closing track "Tristeza" by Haroldo Lobo are particularly outstanding.

日本にサンバを、ひいてはブラジル音楽を普及しようとしていることがマルシャ(Chico Buarqueの「A Banda」)、ショーロ(Pixinguinhaの「Carinhoso」)、ボサノヴァ(Roberto Menescalの「O Barquinho」)、ついでにサンバ・カンソン(Dolores Duranの「A noite do meu bem」)とブラジル音楽を幅広く演奏していることもそうですが、全曲(B1のみ
平野融のオリジナル)の訳詞を掲載していたり、"長い間の夢だった。サンバのレコードが、やっと出来た。"と書き出しが始まり、自らサンバについて文章を寄せているライナーノーツを見てもひしひしと伝わります。
お客さんも一緒になって歌っているところや彼のMCなど、全て余すところなく当時の雰囲気や熱気がパッケージングされている本作。世界水準のカバーといっても過言ではない
