Gino Vannelli ‎– Powerful People

Canadian avant-garde AOR singer Gino Vannelli released his second album, "Powerful People" in 1974.

Produced by Herb Alpert under A&M Records, the album features Gino’s brother Joe Vannelli on electric piano and backing vocals from Lani Hall.

The album’s highlight is undoubtedly the high-energy and adrenaline-pumping A4 track, "Jack Miraculous" famously sampled in Dev Large’s "Dead Funky President" Other standout tracks include A2, "Lady" sampled by DJ Vadim in "The Larry Chatworth Theme" A5, "Jo Jo" has been used in Big Pun feat. Tony Sunshine’s "My Dick" 12" Ninjazz’s "De La Necesidad & La Naturaleza Humana" and Mitsu The Beats’ mixes. B2, "Felicia" is another gem, sampled in DJ Vadim’s "My Favourite Letter" and Xczircles feat. Ceschi’s "Disease" Packed with incredible tracks, this album is a treasure trove for music lovers and beat diggers alike!

プロデュースはA&Mなんでやはりハーブ・アルパート。ちなみにエレピを弾いているのはジノのお兄さんであるジョー・ヴァネリ。バック・コーラスでラニ・ホールが参加しています。
本作の沸点であろう尋常じゃない疾走感&テンションで、Dev Large「Dead Funky President」で使れれたA4「Jack Miraculous」を筆頭にDJ Vadim「The Larry Chatworth Theme」でサンプリングされたA2「Lady」, Big Pun feat.
