Gloria Gaynor, the singer from New Jersey whose birthday is today in 1949. The album I’ve picked is her 1978 release "Love Tracks" which reached number 4 on the US charts and is her best-selling album of her career.

For those a dozen years older than me, the huge hit B1 "I Will Survive" must be irresistible. But the album also features excellent disco tunes like Gene Page's arrangement of Little Anthony & The Imperials' cover "Goin' Out Of My Head" A1 "Stoplight" and B3 "I Said Yes" Personally, I’m captivated by her cute voice. My recommendation is the beautiful ballad B2 "You Can Exit" which has been sampled in tracks like Big L's "Size 'Em Up" Streetlife's "Can't Stop Won't Stop" and Rest and DJ Fatte's "Premiéra"
